On this episode of Footnote we meet with author Paul Moses, and discuss his ground-breaking book - The Saint and the Sultan. In the book, Moses recounts Francis's incredible encounter with the Sultan to reveal a spirited and energetic man whose love for peace made him willing to risk his life. He reminds us that true agents of dialogue must be courageous enough to talk as well as to listen, even opposing their own people, in the name of justice, dignity and love.
Paul Moses is a professor of journalism at Brooklyn College and the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. He is a former senior religion writer, City Hall bureau chief and city editor at Newsday, where he was the lead writer in news coverage that won a Pulitzer Prize.
