"WWII: Legacy of Letters" by Clinton Frederick is a remarkable story--a loving tribute to a father he had never really met...a father who was killed in a combat during the Admiralty Island campaign of World War II...a father who couldn't see his son, but left dozens of invaluable letters, two Japanese rifles and a razor-sharp samurai sword whom the author finds safely stored away in trunks in his grandparents' attic. Through the letters, the author not only got to know his father, but also took pride in his accomplishments, shared his frustrations, and his love of travel. And it is through these letters that Clinton was able to dive into his fathers inner feelings and communicate, even so many years after his father's death.
