2/07 Place of Genetically Modified Foods in Our Diet

Food. It's an appetizing yet complex subject. Everyone eats, but no one eats exactly the same way. Most Americans are unaware of the changes that have been taking place in the food industry over the last 20 years. There are some people who have been eating genetically-modified food for years.

We have, as a society, systematically moved away from conventionally grown foods for the sake comfort. Genetically-modified food is a field that we are just starting to explore and we still are not aware of the long-term risks or rewards of this practice.

The troubling aspect of this practice is the secrecy behind the introduction of genetically-modified foods to our diet. Most consumers are not aware of which foods they consume are genetically-modified and which ones are conventionally grown.
