Ayna 42-Ukraine

This week Saim journeys to Eastern Europe to soak up some local culture in the Ukraine. In the historical city of Kiev he visits significant landmarks such as Independence Square, site of the many political protests involved in the country’s bid for freedom from Soviet rule. From there he tours Kreschatyk Street, Kiev’s most famous thoroughfare that’s home to trade buildings, banks, luxury hotels and restaurants, and Mariyinsky Palace that once served as the local home to the Tsar. Delight along with him in the National Folk Dance Group as they perform traditional dances and songs at the city’s Cultural Center, and spend the afternoon at the circus – a very popular family event. Once you’ve experienced Kiev, continue on to Odessa, a former Soviet naval fortress located on the Black Sea whose many attractions include the Potemkin Steps – made famous in the 1925 film The Battleship Potemkin, the Seventh – Kilometer Market on the city’s outskirts, the Odessa Aquarium, and the mysterious Odessa Catacombs. Experience all the unique opportunities this region has to offer. Enjoy your visit to The Ukraine.
