Ayna 51- Ethiopia 2
This week Saim begins the first half of a two-part journey to Ethiopia. Hailed as the oldest country in Africa that has never been colonized, Ethiopia has a long and rich history, but unfortunately many people there struggle today with poverty and illness. In the capital city of Addis Ababa, Saim visits Mercato, the largest open-air market in Africa, where hundreds of people sell various hand crafted items, food, electronics and clothing, all trying to make a living in a financially challenged environment. He meets many shop keepers and vendors as he tries to get a feel for their daily existence in the city. As he learns the lay of the land we get to experience the sites and sounds of this far-off region of the world. Come explore Ethiopia this week on “Ayna.”
