This week Saim journeys to the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia to explore Azerbaijan.In this first segment of a two-part series, the country is gearing upfor the annual spring festival known as Noruz. Held in the beginning of March, the celebrations include parades, dancing, music, colorful costumes, and, of course, an abundance of food. Saim drops by abustling market where preparations are underway for the big day.After taking part in the festivities, he’s invited to dinner in thehome of a family in the capital of Baku. Here he is introduced to the various foods and confections that make up a traditional Noruz menu as well as the customs that accompany the meal.
