Saim continues his journey to Japan by taking part in some of the biggest festivals celebrated annually here for several hundred years. The Sanja Matsuri Festival in Asakusa,Tokyo features parades of portable shrines through the streets, music and food followed by a visit to the shrine at the conclusion of the celebration. The Aoi Matsuri Festival is celebrated every May 15thin Kyoto and has traditionally been a time to pray for a good harvest. Following the festivals, Saim attends an annual Kimono Show,where the beauty and artistry of Japan’s traditional dress is showcased as a way to keep this aspect of the country’s history alive. A visit to a Shin to shrine and a recreation of a Japanese village where Ninja and Samurai shows are the greatest attraction wrap up this visit to the land of the Rising Sun.
