Join us this week on “Ayna” as we head to the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan. Located along the Silk Road that connects Central Asia to the Far East, Uzbekistan is a country full of friendly and hospitable people. Come along as we explore the capital city of Tashkent, a bustling metropolis with anatmosphere of old world charm. Independence Square in the center of the city is home to the country’s Parliament Buildings and the Monument of Independence. Community festivities take place here every September 1st when Uzbekistan celebrates its independence. Another popular attraction is the Amir Timur Museum whose distinctive blue dome and ornate interior welcome visitors to its exhibits commemorating the life and times of the great conqueror. End your day at the busy Chorsu Bazaar where an extensive array of fruits, vegetables and the country’s famed Uzbek Rice offer travelers ataste of Uzbekistan that it’s rumored they’ll never forget.
